Profile 

General Physician and Master in Epidemiology from the Universidad del Valle (Colombia); PhD in Health Sciences from the Department of Public Health Sciences of the Karolinska Institute of Sweden, with a partial scholarship from the COLFUTURO Foundation (Colombia) and the ERACOL Program of the European Union. In addition, he completed a postdoctoral academic interchange at the Institute of Social Medicine of the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) of Brazil, funded by the Ministry of Science (Colombia, formerly COLCIENCIAS) in alliance with the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) of Brazil. As an Associate Professor at the School of Public Health, School of Health, Universidad del Valle, he teaches undergraduate, masters and doctoral courses in biostatistics, epidemiology and research methodology, and he is thesis director of graduate students; he is a researcher at the CISALVA Institute on health status measurement scales, mental health, violence, external caused injuries, road and occupational safety, trauma and disability; researcher of the MACOS group on population genetics and congenital malformations and of the Doctoral Program in Ergonomics. Additionally, he is associate editor of the journal Colombia Médica of the Universidad del Valle and of the international journal Cambridge Prisms: Global Mental Health. He was Consultant of the representation in Colombia of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO). He has more than 50 peer-reviewed scientific publications in the international database Scopus, with an H index of 10. He has been ranked by MinCiencias (Colombia) as Senior Researcher since 2017.
